"Honor your father and your mother, as the Lord your God has commanded you, that your days may be prolonged and that it may go well with you." Deuteronomy 5:16Honor means to "weigh heavily," to highly esteem and respect the opinion or office of another. God promised blessings to those who honor those He has commanded honor to be given. The Law of Honor is one of Mike Murdock’s Wisdom keys and in his wisdom, Mike said,
"Your future is determined by who you choose to honor, and if you fail in your life, it will be because of a person you have chosen to dishonor."
Honor is the seed for access. When you plant honor in the soil God commands you to, you will gain access to blessings and will receive honor yourself. When Joseph was wrongfully imprisoned in Egypt he gained honor by giving honor to the jailer. When he was summoned to appear before Pharaoh, King of Egypt, he showed honor by shaving his beard. It was an Israelite custom to wear a beard but it was repulsive to the Egyptians, so Joseph honored Pharaoh by appearing before him clean-shaven. Joseph gained such great honor in Egypt that he was second in power only to Pharaoh.
Jeremiah 35 tells a story about the sons of Rechab who would live only in tents and never drink wine because Rechab’s son Jonadab had given them these commands. Jonadab was dead but his descendants still lived according to his commands. This act of honor so impressed the Lord that He blessed them and declared before all Israel, "Jonadab the son of Rechab shall not lack a man to stand before Me always."
You cannot honor God without obeying Him and we must always give honor to whom honor is due, -"Render to all what is due them; tax to whom tax is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honor to whom honor." (Rom.13) If you will sow honor you will gain access to a mighty harvest of blessings.
