Will You Stand or Fall?

"Whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in Heaven." Matthew 10:33

During his fight for racial equality, Martin Luther King once said, -"In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends." Perhaps Dr King had in mind what Jesus said, -"He who is not with Me is against Me; and he who does not gather with Me scatters."

A closet Christian does not really exist. Anyone who thinks of themselves as a Christian yet does not openly profess it so, is not a true Christian but is in delusion. Profession in Word without deeds is not real profession. All who will not stand will fall.

Ancient Nineveh was a wicked city who repented at the preaching of Jonah and Jesus prophesied, -"The men of Nineveh will stand up with this generation at the Judgment, and will condemn it because they repented at the preaching of Jonah;" Because they bowed themselves before the Lord and publicly fasted and prayed for His forgiveness, they were spared from destruction and will stand at the Judgment.

Jesus is the living Word and when Nineveh heard and recognized the Word they submitted themselves to obey it. Had they not submitted and turned from their wickedness they would have surely fallen.

The Christian Church is likened to many things, a body with many members, a Spiritual House made of living stones, an unleavened loaf, the children of God, and the army of the Lord. An army can only be effective when each soldier stands and fights in his own line.

The enemy seeks to break the line, divide and scatter the army. This is why we must gather to Jesus who is our leader and the Captain of our salvation. Since Jesus is the living Word of God, this means that we gather to Him by yielding and walking according to the Word. In this we stand. Let us take heed how we live, -"Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter." Dr. Martin Luther King
