"The one who
desires life, to love and see good days,
must keep his tongue from evil and his
lips from speaking deceit. He must turn
away from evil and do good; He must seek
peace and pursue it." 1 Peter 3:10-11
It is often said -"It doesn’t matter
how you worship God. God doesn’t care
how you dress, how you wear your hair,
or how you worship Him, as long as you
worship Him. He doesn’t care where you
go to church, what Christian doctrines
you embrace or what customs you use to
worship Him. There are many ways to a
heavenly eternal life."
Does that sound familiar? It may sound
logical to the human mind, but it is
very far from biblical truth. In fact
God commanded that we should be careful
to do exactly as He says, neither adding
to nor taking away. (Deut.4:2) God
never gave anyone the right to worship
Him according to the dictates of his own
mind, but instead, has always demanded
faithful obedience.
There are plenty of Christian teachers
today who will tell you that the details
of godly worship are unimportant. They
will confidently declare that it doesn’t
matter what you eat, whether you keep
the Commandments, observe the Sabbath,
keep the Feasts of the Lord or worship
using customs associated with ancient
idolatry. Many of the same false
teachers who will openly denounce the
Laws of God will call you a sinner if
you fail to fulfill the Law of tithing.
That is the one Law they will preach
with vigor. These men are inconsistent
at best.
"Woe to
them, for they have strayed from Me!
Destruction is theirs, for they have
rebelled against Me! I would redeem
them, but they speak lies against Me."
(Hos.7:13)
How had Israel strayed from God? How
had they rebelled against Him?
How were they speaking lies against
God?
Israel fell into the sin of idolatry and
began to acknowledge and serve other
gods. They regularly profaned the
Sabbath and the Festival Holy Days. And
they repeated the lies of their false
prophets who declared all is well when
humble repentance was necessary to avoid
the wrath of God. "His
watchmen are blind, all of them know
nothing. All of them are mute dogs
unable to bark, dreamers lying down, who
love to slumber; And the dogs are
greedy, they are not satisfied. And they
are shepherds who have no understanding;
They have all turned to their own way,
each one to his unjust gain, to the last
one." (Isa.56:10-11) If
it matters to God, then it must matter
to us.
