“For you are all sons of God
through faith in Christ
Jesus. For all of you who
were baptized into Christ
have clothed yourselves with
Christ. There is neither Jew
nor Greek, there is neither
slave nor free man, there is
neither male nor female, for
you are all one in Christ
Jesus. And if you belong to
Christ, then you are
Abraham’s descendants, heirs
according to promise.”
Galatians 3:26-29
It’s amazing that racism
could exist in the Church of
God, simply because the
Church is the Body of Christ
- individual members of “One
Body.” The Church are called
the sons of God who have
been born of the Promised
Seed through the agency of
the Holy Spirit. In the
natural all of us were born
of Adam’s seed which was
preserved through Noah’s
sons that produced the races
and their variations.
But regardless of who we
are in the flesh, we are one
holy race in Christ. We
are one people who are
citizens of one Kingdom and
all have the same Father.
God chose an ancient people
out of bondage in Egypt to
be His own possession, but
being born of Abraham, Isaac
and Jacob was not enough to
even see the Kingdom of God.
Jesus told the Jewish Rabbi
Nicodemus that if he wished
to see the Kingdom that he
would have to be born again
of the Spirit. (Jo.3)
Our text is clear enough
saying there is neither Jew
nor Greek in Christ, and
that those who have been
baptized into Christ are
Abraham’s children of
promise. The great Apostle
Paul was an Israelite
according to the flesh, born
of the tribe of Benjamin. He
was also a rising star among
the Rabbinic teachers in
Jerusalem before Jesus
called him into His grace
and service. But when
looking back Paul counted it
all as “rubbish” compared to
being born in Christ.
(Phil.3) To the Romans he
explained it this way, -“Nor
are they all children
because they are Abraham’s
descendants; ‘But through
Isaac your descendants will
be named.’ That is, it is
not the children of the
flesh who are children of
God, but the children of the
promise are regarded as
descendants.”(Rom.9)
Whether Jew or Gentile, all
must be born of the Spirit
of God. All men are
descended from the first
Adam and regardless of race
must be born into the Last
Adam to enter into the
Kingdom of Heaven, -“The
first man, Adam, became a
living soul. The last Adam
became a life-giving Spirit.
However, the spiritual is
not first, but the natural;
then the spiritual. The
first man is from the earth,
earthy; the second man is
from heaven. . .Just as we
have borne the image of the
earthy, we will also bear
the image of the heavenly.
Now I say this, brethren,
that flesh and blood cannot
inherit the Kingdom of God:”
(1 Cor.15)
Being a natural descendant
of Abraham could get you a
land flowing with milk and
honey, but father Abraham
wanted much more and was
looking ahead, -“By
faith he lived as an alien
in the land of promise, as
in a foreign land, dwelling
in tents with Isaac and
Jacob, fellow heirs of the
same promise; for he was
looking for the city which
has foundations, whose
Architect and builder is
God.” (Heb.11)
Satan is always working to
divide because he knows that
a house divided cannot
stand. Race is but one of
his tools, a tool which
should have no success in
the Church. The Bible says,
“Without vision the people
perish.”
Looking through our
spiritual eyes, let us see
the vision of who we are in
Christ - and live into that
vision united as one.
