What
is the
Commission of the Church?
To
proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, which is the good
news of
Christ's sacrifice for the sins of mankind, and the good
news of
the coming Kingdom of God that will radically change
Man, beast and the land itself. This gospel is to be
preached by the Church to the whole world as a witness,
and then the end of this age will occur at the
triumphant return of Jesus as Lord of Lords and King of
Kings.(Matthew 24:14 /
Mark 16:15 / Matthew 10:7)
The commission of the Church is to carry on the Father's
business, -to proclaim the message of the new covenant. (Malachi
3:1 / Mark 1:1) To
give witness to the death and resurrection of Jesus
Christ, the Son of God for the remission of sins, by
which man is reconciled.(1
Corinthians 2:2 / Hebrews 10:10 / 9:22) (2 Corinthians
5)
The Church is commissioned to feed those the Father
calls with the pure food of His word as revealed in the
Bible. To do this, God gave the Church Apostles,
Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors and Teachers. They are to
instruct the brethren in sound doctrine that they may
grow spiritually mature, and that their may be unity of
the faith among believers. Pastors are there to shepherd
the flock, serving as living examples and protecting the
Lord's flock from wolves. (Ephesians
4:11-16 / Galatians 1:8 / Acts 20:28-32 / 1 Peter 5:1-4)
The Church is also a watchman for the descendants of
Israel, and is commissioned to warn the nations
regarding their national sins in hope that they may seek
God and repent from living outside of God Commandments.
To witness of the coming Great Tribulation, which is
referred to as the time of "Jacob's Trouble" in the Holy
Scriptures. About 900 BC Israel was split into two
distinct Kingdoms, the northern Kingdom called the House
of Israel, (Consisting of 10 tribes) and the southern
Kingdom called the House of Judah, or the
Jews.(Consisting of 2 tribes) The northern Kingdom,
Israel, was defeated by the Assyrians and carried away
as slaves in 721 BC, and all but lost from history. But
the Church of God maintains that the Anglo-Saxon peoples
of western Europe and United States are their
descendants.
Saxon means Isaac's
sons, British means Covenant
people. Because
of pagan worship, these peoples lost their identity
thousands of years ago, but they are, along with their
brothers the Jews, the Covenant People.
As the Covenant People, these nations are under much
stricter judgment from God, because they have forsaken
the Commandments of God, after agreeing to keep them. (Exodus
20-24)
The Church believes that Judah did not lose their
identity because they maintained their religion,
although imperfectly. Thus said, the Church of God must
warn not only the world of the coming Tribulation, but
especially the modern nations of Israel on whom a
heavier judgment if exacted, as a witness and in hope of
a conviction that would lead to repentance.
The Tribulation is not God's wrath, but Satan's. God's
wrath will occur during the last year of the 3 ½ year
Tribulation. The Day
of the Lord is
one year long. (Isaiah
34:8 / Ezekiel 33 / Matthew 24 / Luke 21 / Mark 13 /
Jeremiah 30:7 / Revelation 12:12 / Daniel 12 / Leviticus
26)
The Church of God supports this sacred work of
proclaiming these critical messages with their tithes
and offerings.
